D. S. "Rosie" Foley, 90, of Walnut Ridge, passed away Monday February 6, 2012 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 18, 1921 in Smithville, son of Dan H. and Maude Spotts Foley. He was one of Jimmy Jeff Sharum Firehouse Boys while attending high school in Walnut Ridge. After graduation, from WRHS he served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

He was the former Lawrence Co. Sheriff from 1951-1960; County Judge from 1979-1982; He also held various jobs with the State of Arkansas and was an appraiser for the Jack Cato Association. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge for fifty-five years.

He was united in marriage to Helen Hackworth on Febuary 14, 1948.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jason Foley; eight brothers, Wycliff, Hubert, Genes, Ruel, Ursel, Freelin and two infant boys; and a sister, Pauline Norris.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of the home; a son, John Foley of Walnut Ridge; a daughter, Stacy and David McNutt of West Memphis; four grandchildren, Shane Foley of Imboden, Danielle Smith of West Virginia, Heather Saylor of Rogers and Cody McNutt of Louisville, Kentucky; four great grandchildren, Chloe and Lillian Foley, Laine and Elise McNutt and one step great grandson Colby Clark; two brothers, Tom Foley of California and Mayo Foley of Oklahoma; a sister, Oneta Bradley of Kansas; and many other relatives and friends.
