Viola Pickney, 87, of Black Rock, passed away, Monday, January 23, 2012 at her home.

Born June 21, 1924 in Hamil, Arkansas, daughter of Richard Rubin and Martha E. Thornton Lawrence. She was a homemaker, loved to crochet, make crafts and she had a ceramic shop for several years. She and her husband also had a café in Black Rock and was of the Pentecostal belief.

She was united in marriage to Freddie Pickney May 21, 1947. She was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Berlecamp and four siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Freddie Pickney of the home; two daughters, Jeanette Darris and Diane Ragsdale both of Black Rock; three sons, Freddie Pickney Jr Donald Sanders and Bobby Joe Pickney all of Black Rock. a brother, Bud Lawrence of West Plains, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
