Mildred Leona Alphin, 90, of Sherwood, formerly of Walnut Ridge, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at St. Vincent Medical Center.

Born September 22, 1921 near Walnut Ridge, daughter of Archie Lee and Mary Manning Ball. She was a homemaker, retired from the Human Development Center and a member of the Christian Life Center in Little Rock.

She was united in marriage to Bartes Alphin July 27, 1940. She was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Ball and two sons, Elisha Alphin and Charles Alphin.

Survivors include her husband, Bartes Alphin of the home; five sons, Dewain Alphin of Pensacola, Florida, Nathan Alphin of Memphis, Tennessee, Jerry Alphin of Jacksonville, Florida and Mark Alphin of Finland; six daughters, Wilma Grimes and Vounda Everett both of Sherwood, Diana Newcom and Betty Alphin Christman both of St. Charles, Missouri, Claretta Moody of Vilonia and Marietta Alphin of Bauxite; twenty five grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
