I will miss Gramps so very much but know he is rejoicing with my mom,Silas,Marty,and all our loved ones and one of my favorite memories is when I wanted a pair of red shoes and couldn't afford them and mom told him so he went to the shoe store and brought them to me.He always took care of mom but the last 2 years of her life he was there taking care of her only leaving when the aide came to help her bathe.During that time he would go to wal-mart,have coffee with his friends and right back to her.

One of my earliest and favorite memories of my Gramps is whether he was leaving for the fields in the morning or coming home late in the evening he always pouched his lips way out to give Mama a big smooch (while looking at me out of the corner of his eye making sure I saw it). Another time Mama and I took him his lunch out in the rice field one hot summer day and he met us at the running well pump. I remember he held on to me and let me crawl out on the pipe just enough to put my hand in the ice cold water flowing out of the well head, still taste that fresh ice cold well water. I don't ever remember Gramps getting mad at us kids or anyone else for that matter, if he did he sure didn't do it in front of me. Can't wait to hear him holler "Hey Fat Boy!" when I get to heaven...and yes I'm still gonna holler "Hey Fat Boy" right back at him.

I have fond memories of "Wild Bill" when i was only 13 years old first ever getting to know him, as he came strolling in the corner cafe at Hoxie, and letting out that warhoop yell , that was a signature of making his presence known ! A very close friend he become to me and my mother and his wife Lorene was a best friend to my mother. As years went by and i married Janice Sharp, we both were friends to him,and it became a yearly tradition for my wife to take him Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for the past several years. My wife just saw and talked to him tuesday, and it broke her heart when she found out of his passing, and it was a sad day for me too. There will never be another "Wild Bill" he was one of a kind ! It was good to know that he had accepted the Lord as his Saviour a few years back. The world lost a good man today, but the angels carried him away to his final resting place and heaven gained a mighty soul !!! I pray the family will find compfort in knowing this about him.
